Move over Titans….Make Way for B2C!
In the brief time that I have been at Calvary, I have heard a great deal about “Back 2 Calvary Sunday.” With all the wonderful things I have heard, I can hardly wait to experience it. Hopefully, you are counting the days down to September 12, not because it is the beginning of the NFL season but because it is “Back 2 Calvary” Sunday. Who cannot feel a sense of excitement when you hear words like: FOOD, ring toss, inflatables, FOOD, cupcake walks, fellowship, FOOD. Did I mention that there will be lots of FOOD?
For those who may be unfamiliar with Back to Calvary Sunday, it is a time when we officially say good bye to summertime vacations and get back into the swing of life at Calvary. New Sunday School classes will begin. Choirs and special music groups will reconvene. New Bible Study groups will form. It is a time of new and hopefully fresh beginnings.
Please note that we will be having a combined worship service at 10:30 on September 12. However this does not mean you can sleep in. We will join together for a “Kick-Off” breakfast celebration from 8:00 am to 9:00 am in the Christian Life Center. In addition to FOOD there will be ministry display tables with sign-up opportunities.
This will be the official kick off day for our Sunday School classes which begin at 9:15. During the worship at 10:30, we will be commissioning our Christian Education leaders for the 2010-2011 year. It will be great to see all our folks come together in one place to worship God together.
Later in the afternoon we will be having a Back to Calvary Carnival which is designed to be a intergenerational outreach event for all to enjoy. There will be games, activities and lots of FOOD for all ages!
We must not forget that being a Christian involves celebration! Jesus was known as a person who was constantly attending dinners and enjoying a good party. Come join the entire Calvary family as we celebrate our oneness in Christ.
Blessings, Pastor Steve
