So...i still cannot believe that we are successfully growing edible food.  A big THANK YOU goes out to Laura Jones and all the information and hands on teaching she has provided and continues to provide.  The youth continue to weed the garden each week (the grass barriers are not working too well).  They also have helped to regularly plant and water as needed.  Last week, we harvested broccoli, red onions, and cilantro.  Today we picked the first of the green beans.  Here are a few pics:

We have spent the last two Saturdays working on the new Community Garden at Calvary.  The first Saturday, we built the boxes and started the cages.  Last Saturday we filled the boxes with our soil mixture (compost, peat moss, and vermiculite) and actually planted our strawberries, oregano, and onions. We plan on having a big planting day in two weeks for our Spring crops. Pictures to come.
